I am just now reading my RN magazine from February. I know, I know, but who had time before..Now I have more time on my hands then I know what to do with.
There is a big article in my magazine with research between Vitamin D and lung health...
After adjusting for things like age, gender, smoking history, level of physical activity, milk consumption, and Vitamin D supplements, the researcher found that individiuals with high vitamin D levels had SIGNIFICANTLTY better lung function than those with low levels. SPecifically researchers found a 106 ml difference in FEV 1 between those in the highest and lowest Vitamin D groups. FOr FVC, the difference was 142 mls.
Researchers say taht while their findings show a connection between vitamin D and lung health, further studies are needed to see if taking vitamin D supplements will help patients with respiratory disease.
My vitamin D level is the lowest of all my vitamin levels, I know they still need to research the connection with ppl who already have lung disease, but I thought it was inspiring enough to at least keep up with our vitamins and milk drinking.
