They finally made a GI referral. She's been throwing up unconsistatly for months and months. It happens usually during lunch and not with me, making it hard to see the problem. It happens at daycare only. We have tried switching ant acids feeding her less, more, different times. I just can't seem to figure out what it is. I though it was because she was eating too much, but she still is still throwing up. I have no clue what the GI referral entitles, we have a appointment in two months. Does anyone know what will happen at this appointment and what the possible outcomes could be. DS had some issues with vomitting earlier this year. I had thought it was because he'd switched to zithromax tablets instead of liquid. It was always a couple hours after suppertime. We switched his meds to before bed and didn't have a problem until one night we were driving home after supper and shopping and he threw up all over the car. He hadn't had his meds yet.
With him we think it was probably not getting enough salt or getting overheated -- the zithromax probably didn't help matters. It pretty much happened on warmer days or when he was very active, sweated more. He sweats a LOT of salt.
Another thing to consider is... Is the same person feeding her every time it happens? We had some issues with a lazy caregiver at the daycare center who apparently didn't like her job, thought preparing a spoonful of bananas and enzymes was a HUGE chore and claimed that DS threw up tons of green mucus on her a couple times. Not something DS EVER did. When that caregiver was let go, we didn't have issues any longer...

One thought is post-nasal drip causing gagging. Jesse threw up at almost every meal when he was 6. He even had to eat his lunch in the nurse's office at school (to be next to a bucket). He didn't feel sick, he would gag and everything would come up. Taking care of his sinuses helped.
Josh also had this problem, but it was behavioral. He'd chew and swallow so slowly that the food would back up and he'd gag on it. If its only happening at daycare, it might be that.
