Hello,
My name is Melissa and I will be 26 in April. My husband who is 30 has CF. He was diagnosed @ the age of 7. My husband and I will be married 5 years in June. I am wanting to get a tattoo this summer (my first one).. I want it to be something that supports CF awareness. I am thinking either a heart w/ some roses outlining it and CF in the middle of it or 65.. or just a rose w/ vines and 65 in the midst of all of that. I have found a few pics online but nothing that truly stands out. My husband is a great artist so I have thought about asking him to help me come up w/ a design but I also wanted it to be a surprise so not sure what route to go @ this point.. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate. Thanks

My first tat... I found this design that I loved, then I walked around with it for something like a year!! I still loved it , got the tatoo and now 12 years later I still love it. I don't think it matters where it comes from or what it is, as long as you LOVE it . I also think it would be really special for your hubby to design it, or design it together. Does it have to be a surprise?? Alas it will be permanent!

I'd actually suggest something more personal and/or original than the 65 roses thing. I have the R from my husband's signature, and he had one on his ribcage that said "f*ck Cystic fibrosis". I think it would be great to have your husband design something, or design something together, that represents your husband, or you two and CF as well, if you so choose.

But if you want to do the 65 Roses thing, go ahead, just my 2 cents.

I'd love to get a tatoo, but I'm not too keen on the rose thing. I've thought about maybe having the morton salt girl logo, converted into a little boy to represent "my little salty boy"...

LOL, Liza...

Hmm, the tattoo I designed for myself represented CF and my view on it, but not quite so "in-your-face". The meaning behind it was meant for only me to know. I got a pair of tattered demon wings on my shoulderblades. For me, it means that CF can tear me up all it wants, but I'll keep flying. Something cheesy like that, anyway ^_^ You could do something like that, something that represents CF that only you and your husband understand.

As far as getting him to design it, just tell him that you want him to draw you something. Just a simple little picture just for you, something that he feels represents him. That's my suggestion, anyway.

i love my friend's tattoo - "y ahora no hay trueno" - in script, kind of in a wave-like pattern on her shoulder blade. it means "and now there is no thunder" in spanish. it's obviously meaniful to her and she speaks spanish and studied in spain... just an idea. i never thought of getting a phrase like that, but it's so simple yet meaningful and attractive..
