We just received our vest for Adelaide (she's 27 months). The resp. therapist showed us how to use it, but Addie was already in bed. I'd like to introduce it tomorrow, but have no idea what technique will work best. What if she's scared? How did you introduce it? Any help would be great. Thanks!!!

I hope the transition to the VEST goes well. My daughter was 4 when we got hers so it was easier. My advice to you is make sure she is able to do something that she enjoys while vesting like watching tv, playdough or something fun. I know it sounds silly but we let Holly put her dolls in the VEST before she did it. It was a life size doll but it just got shook out but hey, it was worth it for her to laugh about.

My daughter was 15 months when we got ours, so I think I was in the same spot as you are. WE put it on her and held her in our lap. When she was okay with the actual vest, we hooked up the machine and turned it on low and only for like 2 minutes the first time. We worked up to the protocol over the course of about 3 days. She wasn't particularly interested in TV at the time, but we set her up in front of a TV with a baby einstein movie and did what we could to entertain her (sing, sway, clap hands, etc.). It was a good transistion, and then it became a fight, and then it got easier. Now she asks for it, buckles it herself and presses all the buttons herself. Its scary, but its such a good thing. Let us know how it goes.

DS was excited about it -- mainly because he had a captive audience. The rep came out, showed us how it worked, we put it on ds, sat him in his mini-recliner and fired it up on slow with low pressure. DS thought it was pretty cool and belted out Johnny Cash's burning ring of fire for us all to hear. Now he's an old pro -- plays Xbox, dances, has a snack, wears a costume -- here he's a clone trooper.
