Weird new symptom

A couple weeks ago I noticed that when I lie down on my right side I get a strange sensation in the bottom of my throat at the base of my collar bone, similar to the sensation one feels when they take in a large breath and then keep on trying to inhale. It's almost a ticklish feeling. It's uncomfortable, and at night when I switch from my right to left side I usually end up coughing and hacking a bit and the feeling dies down a little.

I'm kind of worried it might be related to my liver, esophageal varices or something although I'm not coughing up blood. Has anyone ever had this? Again, it only happens when I lie on my right side.

My lungs are sensitive to position too. My CF doctor said it's typically easier to lay on your left side because of your heart and the way the structures interact(your heart puts weight and pressure on your right lung). I also have mucous plugs and sometimes lots of bleeding. The newest is that tickling and lots more coughing with filaments. Is it possible you have aspergillus? I've cultured it since 2005 but I'm in the process of evaluating for other issues ie aspergilliosis, allergic reactions. The icthy coughs along with productive coughs are tiring so, I wish you the best!

I'm thinking its probably just mucous, I get that randomly sometimes when I lay down too and usually coughing a few times, drinking some water, or using my albuterol inhaler helps. But it is obnoxious when you're trying to sleep.

Have you tried the Neti Pot before going to bed. This helps rinse out your sinuses. I will get up and do this during the night, helps me stop coughing.
