Today I have had a pain in my neck... no, not the wife, come on get serious.

I woke up with sharp pains in my right lung, but when I breath a sharp pain shoots from my left lung, up to my neck. Any ideas?

If you have any idea what this is let me know. I hate going to the hospital... and I really hate going there for dumb stuff.

Thanks,

-Jason

I have sharp pains every once in a while in my chest. I don't really know what to make of them, but my doc said that it is probably just my ribs. Apparently it is fairly common to actually injure or even crack a rib with how hard we cough. (Not to mention the CPT). That doesn't really explain why the pain radiates to your neck. Don't really know what to say about that. I hope it gets better!

Thank you, me too. I cannot take Codine... I took about 6 ibuprofin, and it still hasn't gone away... I may just take a few Valium and try to sleep it off, it is unbarable.

Thanks for the wishes.

why not call the pulmonary doc on call at your clinic? They will likely know if this is just strange cf pains that will eventually pass or if it's something more serious.

Did you workout earlier this week...especially yesterday - think through your day did you do anything that may have stressed an intercostal and a neck muscle.

Does the pain in the neck relieve through massage (ie. can you put your finger on it) or is it internal? Does it feel like muscle pain or an unfamiliar pain? Try heat does it help? Also try cold does it help?

Sorry I don't know what it is but these are things the doc may ask you also. Might as well have an answer to them before calling. I hope it goes away fast. Pain is the worst!
