Thank you for those that tried to guess.

I must say I was a little disapointed about my visit today, because my pfts dropped 3%, now it is 85% and my weight is 137.

The doctor asked me what I think it was and I said I had no idea because I felt clear and thought I was going to blow really good, mind you I blew 5 times this time instead of my 4, shoot maybe I should of went for the 6th time, but anyhow, he continued to say that he thought it could be asthma, and went through my doses on my inhalers and said that if I felt tight or conjested of some sort to go ahead and use combivent more than what its prescribed, and I said that I really cant tell, but I said that my sinus's have been draining pretty much since Nov. so I seem to remember, so he now thinks that its my sinus's that is causing my pfts to drop, because of the nasal drippings in the back of the throat irritating my bronchial tubes. so he wanted to try something, so he gave me some samples of astelin to take for one month then one month off then I see him again to see how that worrked, so I have a new med to take along with my flonase and sinus rinse.

I asked him about me getting blood done and xrays done, since I havent had them done in a year, so I got the blood drawn and my nose suctioned (do that everytime I see him) They didnt find anything in my last culture, so thats a good thing. Now I will be going back tomorrow to get the chest xray done, he wants it done before the new year, so its cool with me.

He asked me about how I feel when I take hypertonic saline, and I said that sometimes it will make me cough and then there are times when it doesnt and I just sit there he said that when it doesnt make me cough then I m clear and nothing is in my ariways, something to that effect. He decided to change my vest settings, my pressure is now 7 from 6 , and now instead of having two different settings I now have 4, that is 10,12,14,16 5 min on each of them. I use to do 12 and 14 10 min each, so tomorrow I will start my new nasal med and my new settings for my vest.

Oh and Debbie, I mentioned to Dr. Carey about you and he acted like he remembered you asking about me, so now he knows that we know each other.

All in all I had a good appointment just bummed about the pfts but I hope that this nasal med will help and do the trick, plus it could also be this cold air irritating me too, but I just hope that I have higher pfts next , and hopefully I can get around to going to the gym and start exercising.

i'm going to venture a guess that a 3% change is not statistically significant. ask your doc what variance the pFT machine can create. I bet you'll hear that it's around 3% plus or minus.

so all in all, a stable pft is a good pft obviously we'd all like to be higher, but stable is good. and man, 85% ain't bad at all. that's almost normal lung function. so my hat's off to ya.

exercising should help. it will take a few months, but i bet it will add a few statistically significant %age points

what nasal med did he prescribe?

have you ever been tested to allergies (not blood IgE, but skin test).

treating my allergies improved my PFT's drastically. majority of CF patients have untreated allergies which add to inflammation and that whole vicous cycle

keep up the good work.

He prescribed me astelin, I take it two skirts in each nostril 2 times a day, for one month then one month off and then Ill see him in 2 months to see if that helped any. The Doc did mention exercise but I already new that before he even mentioned it, my husband and I was going to start walking/running last month but we only done it for 1 week then and that was it, so I do need to start getting some exercise in as well.

Thank you Luke for the support, I will diffanatly pm you if I ever need anything.
