<div>I work at tHe University of Akron, and our president just announced this in his state of the University address.   He's discussing it in terms of helping diabetics, but I wonder if this could have CF implications.</div><div><br></div><a href="http://www.uakron.edu/dotAsset/589717.pdf">http://www.uakron.edu/dotAsset/589717.pdf</a><div><br></div><div><br></div>

Is it similar to an insulin pump?

Funny, I was thinking about CFRD last night. My husband was at the CF conference and we were discussing the new drugs, the Vertex drug. I was curious if researchers had evaluated the effect of the drug on blood sugars and in theory could it slow the process of CFRD as well?

Course the most important part of the Vertex drug is it's effect on lung health, and decreasing exacerbations and increasing PFT's.

I was at the conference too....I wish I could have met your husband. There is anecdotal evidence that it may impact pancreatic functioning, but I don't think any of the research has been done to support it yet. I would think that if they can help the pancreas to function, even just a little (I vaguely recall the number 30%), it might prevent CFRD -- but I'm not sure about reversing it.
