What does "increased markers" mean?

<br>My daughter had a chest x-ray recently due to pain in her chest and she complains of a "bubble" that causes a stabbing feeling. They told me she had no pnumothorax, etc, but she did show increased markers... when I asked what that meant they said they can see CF markers on the x-ray. I assume they mean inflammation, but I am not sure... especially since when they got back on the line they said there was nothing to worry about but left it at that... meanwhile her PFT's drop at least a percent everytime we go to clinic and her culture came back negative for pseudomonas, and positive for staff (which she always cultures positive for)... anyone know what this "increased markers" is supposed to mean?

What does

On the x-ray they can see "air trapping", "bronchial thickening" and inflamation. I'm not sure what they meant by markers, but it sounds like they are seeing minor changes in the xray that are indicative of CF.

My daughter has white markings on the Xray... kinda looks like a spider web in areas where there should not be. Scarring from damaged tissue. These are increased markers, indicators of advanced disease in the lungs etc. I've actually had her Xrays come back where the markings have improved so I wouldn't be too worried about it with great treatment and a good healthy routine as all CF'ers have this... its is just more pronounced as they age.
