What have you learned?

I thought it would be fun to see what all everyone has learned from this site, and I know for me I have a looooong list of things. As we all know, among other things, this is a place to learn.

I'll start.

What I've learned from coming to this site:

1. The importance of GSH (Gluathione) for people with CF

2. About HFCC (high frequency chest compression) therapies

3. I think (I hope) I'm much more prepared for the tx world when that times comes.

4. Better ways of cleaning my nebs

5. That I'm more like other CFers then I thought I was a few years ago.

6. That more and more people are being diagnosed later in life.

7. The importance of suppliments

8. That CF can bite you even when you think you're doing okay.

9. Undersrtand the importance of compliance on a deeper level.

10. That I'm not the only one with mycobacteria avium complex.

11. So many other CFers (and caregivers) are eager to learn more and take charge of their health on their own.

---Added:

And of course:

. Hypertonic Saline! I created a list of stuff I wanted to talk to my doctor about, and HS was one of them. It was this site that made me frustrated that I wasn't already on it.

. The people here helped with my learning curve about the port. The support and first hand experience that I got from people on this site when I first got it was amazing. I don't think I could have gotten that kind of hand-holding anywhere else.

I'm sure many many other things that I'll probably add/edit later. What's your list of things you've learned since coming here?

A benefit for me is that I have been able to actually DO evening treatments which did not come easily in the first three years of my diagnosis. I pass the time in chat and am grateful for the friends I find there.

1. About Warwick, which led me to go visit him. He in turn gave me info on the Respirtech Vest as well as NAC

2. eFlow

3. Exercise (mostly from Chris)

4. Random questions about my PICC (thanks Jen)

Site has taught me a lot. I try as hard as I can to give back

Oh wow, that would be a long list...I know I can't list them all!

1. That having problems with Tobi and chest tightness is not some weirdo side effect that only I have .
2. The importance of GSH (just ordered my 2nd bottle) and other things to do with the immune system.

3. The importance of wearing a mask if I am going to be digging in the dirt, and how much wearing one helps while housecleaning.

4.How much I missed by not having other cfers to talk to over the years (Yea for the internet and this site, and especially all of you!)

5. How to make things easier on my dh, without making them harder on me, too and the reality checks in dealing with my family. Thanks so much to the partners and parents for sharing so honestly.

6.That I may have found the reason for my Tobi and Tobra intolerance problem (low magnesium)- research pending!

7. How to use my vest correctly

8. That at least I was cleaning my nebs 98% right-lol

9. That I really should excerise more *sigh* and encouragement to do it when I don't wanna.

10.That I should go ahead and try the HTS . I might not have pursued that as soon as I did if not for the experiences here. And how to find a better deal on it from the pharmacy .

11. How to read my PFT's right - still *embarrassed* lol

12. A better understanding of what is involved in tx.

I have had a lot of stress relieved in dealing with cf and my life by coming here!
Thanks everybody!
