What to pack

The book says to be prepared and pack a bag after being listed, but it doesn't say what we should pack. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions of what we should pack.

If you live close to the hospital, you dont really need to pack much because hopefully someone can bring you a change of clothes and things like that once you get closer to being released.

Anyways, I would reccommend bringing a loose pair of pajama shorts (I've figured out how to slip them on even while I have the catheter in, I hate not having on panties under my gown. So as soon as I woke up, I put on panties and shorts over my cather) slippers.
Also, a loose shirt (you'll have chest tubes so it needs to be able to fit over them without bending or being painful.)I chose a tank top, the high doses of prednisone can make you hotter.
I also can't stand not washing my hair, so I would pack dry shampoo along with other basic toiletries...toothpaste, toothbrush, lotion, deodorant etc. The hospital has wipes that you can use to clean your body and they work really well and dont smell bad.

I also, to be funny and you wont be wearing a bra for a while...silicone nipple covers! Hehehe, cause the surgeons will be checking on your incision ever day and if they're hot and male...you get the feeling they should have bought you dinner first.

I didn't prepare a bag.

When you get the call and it's a go, you'll be sedated and then recovering. My recovery consisted of watching the history channel at point blank range because I couldn't really move (nor wanted to!) for quite a few days. You'll be very busy learning your new meds, walking the halls, taking visitors, and SLEEPING.

Don't stress about a bag. If there's something you absolutely need, I'm sure someone will get it for you.

Just make sure to bring yourself and your old lungs. It's one hell'uv'a party!!!

I'm not listed yet, but it's getting close. Here are some things I thought of to pack. We have to drive on the turnpike to get to my transplant hospital, so I want to have some cash on hand. I will also have a bottle of pills and snacks, I'm a diabetic, in case it's a dry run and I need to eat. I will also make sure I have a full O2 bottle to put in the car. These things mostly pertain to the car ride, but I'll have a 3.5 hour drive to get to the hospital, I want to be ready.

I haven't packed yet but my center says to have 3 day supply of your meds as well as toiletries and some loose comfortable pjs and slippers. I'm sure I'll over pack like I was going in for a tune up and take a book and my ipod and maybe some movies lol
