I've known my blood type for almost 15 years or so, mostly out of curiosity, but also because it's something most frequently asked in Japan. Asking your blood type in Japan is like asking your astrological sign in the States.
Basically, there are four different blood types (for those who didn't happen to know), 'O', 'A', 'B', and 'AB'. In Japan, they believe the blood type is at least part of what determines a person's personality, or even their character. For example, they believe the 'O' type is the most outgoing, which would be those who happen to work in the sales field. The 'A' type is one that follows the 'O' type, but seems to be outgoing as well. The 'B' type is one that seems to keep a certain distance from those around them, while the 'AB' is one that likes to do things on their own. For example, if an 'O' type invited an 'A' type and 'AB' type, the 'A' type would happily go along for a drink, while the 'AB' may say they have something else to do.
It was also suggested the 'AB' type are those most likely found in the area of Journalism, while the 'A' type would be in the Engineering field. The 'B' type would mostly be found in the culunary arts, or as Chefs (Which may suggest the Sweedish Chef was blood type 'B').
It happens that the 'O' blood type is most prevalent in the States, while the 'A' type is more prevalent in Japan and Germany.
Though there is not very much scientific support for the theory of how a person's blood type is related to their personalities, it's still a theory that a lot of Japanese believe is fairly accurate.
BTW, I happen to be type 'AB'. My ex-wife happens to be type 'A', but my new wife is also type 'AB', which I found strange how we seemed to be more compatable.
My personal theory about type 'AB' is that they may possibly change their personality based on the personality of the other. I'd even suggest that a guy with blood type 'AB' won't match with a woman with blood type 'A', cause he may be clashing with the 'A' type, or revert to the 'B' type. With two 'AB' types, perhaps a constant change occours, which may even spark the marriage up a bit?!
Anyway that last speculation is based on personal opinion, no scientific support has been available for that!
At work, I had been given a helmet to use for when I go into construction areas (Yea, I guess it would be a 'construction hat'), and I had to have my blood type written on the helmet, probably just in case blood is needed immediately, the type is already known. Supposedly, depending on the blood type, some cannot be ministered to other types, while some can be ministered to any type. More of this info can be found on Wikipedia, if you do a search on "Blood Type".
So, do you know what your blood type is?
