I'll go first: I maintain my normal body weight by eating only 2 moderate meals a day(breakfast and dinner) and exercising for 15 minutes on a daily basis. This works for me.<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse;"><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse;"><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse;"><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse;"><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse;"><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse;"><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse;"><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse;"><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse;"><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse;"><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse;"><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse;"><br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse;"><br><br><span style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: Verdana; white-space: pre-wrap; "><span style="border-collapse: separate; font-family: arial; white-space: normal; "><span style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: Verdana; "><span style="border-collapse: collapse; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); white-space: pre-wrap; ">______________________________<wbr>____________________

Still trying to find a proper method... I have to loose 6 kg that are still there from the pregnancy... Since Monday I am trying the South Beach Diet, lost 1,5 kg so far.
Finding time to exercise is almost impossible, having a five month old Baby with CF, a man that works long hours every day and nobody who could take the baby...

I think I've finally learned that it's a simple math problem -- calories in versus calories out...

I'm 5'6" and managed to get up to 165 pounds after my double lung transplant... Before transplant, I was always around 110 pounds... The lousy, infected lungs acted as a furnace burning off too much of the nutrition I took in... After transplant, and losing the infections, I began much more easily putting on weight... And those of us with CF seem to have the luxury of eating anything we want without worrying about weight gain... But "normal" people, or some of us post transplant, have to begin to watch what we eat...

As I'd mentioned -- I'm 5'6" and I was around 165 and I'm 51 years old -- I want to get down to around 145... I began using an application called "Lose It!" -- it's available for smart phones, or on the web at http://www.loseit.com/

When I entered all of my information -- height, weight, age, gender, etc... -- and told it I wanted to lose 1 pound per week with a goal of getting down to 145 pounds -- it calculated that I would be allowed 1,700 calories if I did no exercise... With every type of exercise logged, you are "given" calories... (i.e. a half hour walk at 3mph earns me another 100 calories added to the 1,700 that I'm allowed...) The more exercise, the more calories you're allowed -- 1,700 was a rather difficult amount to deal with, particularly initially... Women get substantially less based on body size, etc...

The amount of exercise we do really does not burn many calories -- that's an eye opener... And the amount of calories in various foods is sometimes astounding... Working with this little application gave me a huge appreciation of what I'm putting in my mouth -- how much exercise I'm doing -- and particularly the relationship between calorie intake and exercise on my weight loss (or gain...) I've dropped 11 pounds in the last 11 weeks -- but I never thought I could survive on so little food! (yet I am...) Love, Steve

Exercise. Every day. 1-2 hours if you can. You can burn significant calories, just have to work at it.
Sometimes I break the workouts into an AM and PM thing.
My daily burn from each workout if anywhere from 900-1200 calories (5'2", 114 lb female)
I run, weights, stairclimb, bike, swim.
Limit carbs, limit sugar, no fat.
Lots of fresh fruits and veggies, especially veggies, but avoid the carbo veggies.

For me exercise makes no difference. I am currently 45 # overweight due to a care accident in 2008 and I have not lost it. For me I have to eat NO carbs. Then I will be thin and weight what I should. The problem is everything good to eat is a carb and I am a vegatarian so.....

I am also vegetarian and learn quite a few nice low-carb recipes now on the south beach diet. If I eat carbs I try to stick to whole grain (e.g. pasta, bread, rice etc.)
