When do you call the clinic?

DS (almost 5) is sick for the first time since getting dx. He has a very slight cough and a sinus infection. He is on antibiotics. According to the ped his lungs sound fine.

Is this something you would call the clinic about when they re open on Tuesday, or just wait and let them know when he goes in in a month for his regular 6 week appointment?

What abx is he on? Sometimes peds don't prescribe a strong enough abx. I'd call the clinic, and let them know what the ped prescribed, and get their opinion on it.

I hope your little one feels better soon.

I'm not sure if your ped already does this or not but when I was still seeing my ped they would always call clinic to confirm with my docs about what abx they wanted to use. It might be a good thing to encourage them to do so they develop a good relationship between them right from the beginning. It always made things easier for us.

I always call the cf clinic because years ago when ds was a couple months old, he had a cough and I asked his pediatrician about it and his response was that ds' lungs were clear and then said "they cough it's what they do"

A few weeks later, we took him to his cf doctor for a recheck and he yelled at us because DS had bronchitis. Culture showed a enterbactor choclae bug. He was already on abx, but needed different ones to treat this bug.

If you are thinking you might want to call, CALL!! No one at the clinic is going to be angry if you have concerns for your son's health. Our clinic wants to know about any cough that lasts more than 5 days. So far we haven't had any sinus issues, but if we did I'm sure they'd want to know about that as well.

I'd give a call on Tuesday, catch them up and see if they want to do anything about it.
