I could cry right now, GDaughter hasn't left the hospital since birth, she is almost 4 mo's old now and everything was looking up. She was scheduled to have either a G tube or J tube today. It was cancelled again. They have changed her formula so many times to count and this last one gave her dirarria so bad she had to wear 2 diapers and got severely dehydrated. So now they are putting in a PIC line in again!!!And changed her formula, she is not gaining weight and is in fact losing everyday.....So now continuous feedings. She hates progestimel but that is what they are putting her back on. Someone said that they put coconut oil in their formula's and i was wondering if it was recommended by their doctors or what. My daughter asked the nutritionist about this and they said they never heard of it and she was not going to try it anyway. Sorry this is so long but right now my daughter is about to just lose it and i am too,,,,,,,,would you get a second opinion?

I imagine that the doctors want to make sure she's healthy enough to go home. That she can maintain/gain weight... I'm assuming they've got her on enzymes. If it's a matter of her not doing well bottle feeding, have they brought someone to help encourage her to eat, since she's not used to it. They discussed that with DS because at first the nurse and dietician thought he had a poor suck reflex. Turned out he just hated his formula.

DS was in the NICU for 4 weeks recovering from surgery, as well as a few infections, requiring IV antibiotics. We were home for one day and ended right back at the hospital for two more weeks. DS couldn't keep his formula down, had contracted yet another infection, needed another 10 day of ABX.

DS had just the one surgery, hopefully there are some other parents here who can offer some insight, suggestions...
