Which day would you say that my period started?

Hi Girls,

Well, my first actual infertility diagnosis appointment is tomorrow, Friday, at 11:30. They will be doing a transvaginal ultrasound, cultures, and bloodwork. My doctor's office recommends that you be on Day 2 or 3 for all these tests to take place.

Well, I started spotting ever so lightly Monday. That counted as my old cycle since I hardly needed a pantliner on. On Tuesday, I had the same amount of spotting the whole day. Half of the day, I wasn't even spotting, actually. Well, it was about 11:00 pm, and I was VERY CRAMPY. I ran to the bathroom to find that my period arrived...

So my question is...Would you say that it started late Tuesday night (Day 1) or Wednesday (Day 1). Normally, I would have already been in bed and would have counted Wednesday as Day 1.

I called the clinic on Monday, and they said that even if I'm on Day 4 that that was okay. They figured that the results would still be fine. But what do you think???

ON FRIDAY, WILL I BE DAY 3 OR 4??? <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0">

I would say red blood is the start. You started your period on Wednesday. The clinic will be able to run all the tests they need. They will look at your uterine lining and measure it and they'll be able to tell you are in the beginning of your cycle. No worries.

Thanks, Tara.

I was thinking Wednesday was Day 1 but wanted to be sure. I will be on Day 3 tomorrow for the appointment. Good. I couldn't have timed that any better. I had to make the appointment 1 week early because they were unable to get the ultrasound in before the bloodwork. Thankfully, I have a very consistant cycle (as usual).

I must admit that I'm a little uneasy because I'm on Day 3 of my cycle for this vaginal ultrasound. You know, Tara, how my periods are!!! Plus, it's a male doctor........My first male doctor.........I must admit that I'm not the most modest person until it comes to things GYN-related.

I was VERY HEAVY Wednesday and earlier today. I think by tomorrow it will medium, if luck, light. Most likely medium since I have my period for 8-9 days. These other procedures next week will be around Day 10 -11, once my period is FINALLY OVER!!!

Thank you! <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0">

Hi Jenny,

I was nervous about that too. Most of the time, I was in an ultrasound room where the bathroom connected. I told them I was still bleeding and they put an extra pad to sit on the table. I took out my tampon right before the exam, ran to the table and sat down. Then they should have tampons in the exam room for you to put in afterward, or you can bring your own. It's really not a big deal to the doctor and trust me, he's seen it all! Once they walk you to the exam room they will ask "do you need to use the restroom?" and that's where you say Yes! Then ask for an extra pad incase you bleed on the table. It's really not a big deal. All the nurses have seen it before too. In fact some of them may have been in your situation before, so relax and enjoy the show! I always found the ultrasounds interesting. It's fun to see your insides! Your doctor will probably narrate what he's doing, and if he doesn't, just ask! The ultrasound doesn't hurt. It's just a little weird to have a stranger probing around up there. And don't worry about the male factor. I've never had a female OB. My first and only OB happens to be a guy. And my favorite RE was also male.
