Hello all,
Just wondering which pharmacy people use and why? Zoe had been on the Wee Care program with the CF Pharmacy for her Creon, but now she is over 2 and they don't do that program for her. For mixed up antibiotics, we have used our local 24hr CVS, but was wondering if there is an advantage to using the CF Pharmacy for her Creon or the local pharmacy.
Thanks!

I use my local Eckerds Pharmacy for everything. I did use the CF pharmacy when I started the HS because it was too much of a hassle for Eckerds to get what I needed. I prefer Eckerds (tho I have also used Rite Aide & others that are small local pharmarcies) because it fits my financial schedule better & it just works better overall.

My insurance gives me a discount on my meds if I order through a mail order pharmacy.

For example, if I go to CVS, I pay $10 for 30 days of my Ultrase. But if I go through Aetna mail order pharmacy, i get 90 days for $15. So I go through the mail order

We use the CF Services Pharmacy for ADEKs and Tobi. The ADEKs, because sometimes the drops are scarce and on backorder with scandiafarm and CF Services only sells them to CFers -- apparently they're popular with people who've had gastric bypass surgery who have absorption issues. The tobi, we get because we're part of the tobi foundation -- otherwise our copay the first of the year is $536. Otherwise our local pharmacy is GREAT about getting us just about anything. And cost-wise, they're pretty competitive.

And sometimes our Tobi order has gotten screwed up and hasn't been sent in a timely matter. Customer service tells us it's been sent, only to find out it hasn't. So I prefer going local. Less stress.

We use CFServices for creon and Tobi on the idea that it helps CFF make some profits to churn back into CF research and since both are a bit of trouble for our local pharmacy to deal with. We use our local pharmacy for everything else. Either way costs the same under our insurance.

I use CF Services for a few things, but most of the time I use a small local pharmacy. I just really like the personalization that we get from them. Sometimes it may take an extra day to get something, but I just know that I need to call in our refills a few days in advance. Our insurance also offers a discount through the mail order, and I may use it at some time in the future, but right now I am really enjoying the relationship that I have with my local pharmacy. I still like having someone know my name when I walk into the store and not to have to use an automated service. The pharmacist himself answers the phone when you call for refills
