Which Vest is Best?

I have a 2 1/2 yr old daughter who we are going to be starting on a vest very soon, but don't know which vest is better/best, and/or which company is best to work with. I know we are going to be paying a part of any vest we get, so I want to be sure we are getting THE BEST one out there. Our doctors don't seem to really have an opinion on which one is best... they just have one they are used to prescribing, but I wanted to hear what you, the real experts, have to say.

I have seen the MedPulse by Electromed, and it is a full vest and seemed good, but I have read things on this message board about the vest from Hill-Rom being great. Is this one a full vest as well? Any ideas about whether one company is better to deal with than another? We decided when our daughter was diagnosed that we were going to be proactive and informed, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

hi think your right the hil-rom vest appears to be the most liked, not only in use, but i think on aftercare by hil-rom as well. Someone has a link to 3 companies in a previous thread, it may be by 'Allysa or poss Julie', I'll check it out and post back.

hi back again,
Look in alyssa's blog, she has a fairly extensive blog on vests, with links to various comp's, hope this helps you.
We don't use the vests here in the UK, the national heath service would never pay for it.

Mark's only ever used the vest by Hillrom, but he really really likes it. You can see their vest at www.thevest.com and read about all their studies and patient assistance and such.

Sorry I can't be of more help, maybe Alyssa's blog (as craig shared) will give you the answers you need.

Wow...you guys are good :) I cannot believe you remembered I had that info in one of my many (ha ha ha ) I mean two posts in my blog !

I felt the exact same way when faced with making the purchase -- I wanted to make the best decision. My blog pretty much says it all, with links to three companies. So if you haven't done so already, the link to my blog is in my signature or you can find me over on the left side of the page under "user blogs"

To answer you question about a full vest -- The Vest, by Hill-Rom does have both a 1/2 (chest vest) and a full vest. They each have there own benefits. My daughter has both vests and rotates them according to how she is feeling.

I agree with Amy - when I studied in Scotland, they exchanged my vest for one set to that current (with an additional outlet on the unit so I could plug my American compressor right into the vest and use it.) They gave me a crate to pack it in, and when I got back to the states they switched my machine back - no charge, no hassle!
