Injectibles are just more aggressive. And more expensive!! I wasn't on a high dose of them though. My problem I think was more the low sperm, my follies were fine and I had a couple so...Who ever knows for sure, it could be my tubes not releasing the egg properly as well???

Hi Alisha,

When I was trying to get pregnant, my fertility doc wanted to start me on fertility meds right away. He thought that I *might* have scar tissues from my abdominal surgery that could be blocking my right fallopian tube. He also wanted me to do an HSG right away too to find out for sure if there was a blockage. I refused it all because I wanted to see if I could get pregnant naturally first. I was way too worried about carrying multiples by going on fertility drugs. I told myself I would try 2-3 natural cycles and then I would do the HSG and go from there. Luckily for me I got pregnant on IUI #2, so I did not need the meds or tests.

But do remember that the statistics are low for each try at IUI. Sometimes it will happen naturally, it just takes awhile.

Good luck!

Over the last 18 months we have done:

- 3 natural cycles (against my consultant's advice as the chances are low but I was worried about the risk of twins!)

- 3 stimulated cycles (the first was cancelled as I had 4 follicles, the second failed and we are having the IUI for the third tomorrow).

I am pushing for referal for IVF now as if this cycle doesn't work I can't see we have any other option. With hindsight I wish I'd gone straight to stimulated cycles but it seemed my only problem was a blocked cervix (due to sticky mucus) so it seemed unwise to risk a twin pregnancy (which I wouldn't be able to carry so would have to have a selective termination) without giving natural a chance.

Good luck ladies! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">
