Wondering

Ok, so not really CF related but I saw a mention about it in another post and wanted to make sure I got a reply. Somebody said something about the nuva ring birth control. How exactly does it work? I'm on the patch right now and I like it but sometimes having a sticker on your butt for 3 weeks gets annoying.

I was the one who mentioned the NuvaRing.

It's essentially a little flexible, clear plastic ring, only 2in in diameter, that you basically insert and leave for three weeks. It's low dose etonogestrel/ethinyl estradiol and they say it has advantages over pills because the hormone level is constant in your body.

Another advantage is that you don't even know it's there, as opposed to having a patch on your butt! I usually take it out for sexual activites only because i found it to be uncomforable, but i guess it depends on each person.

I've never been on any other type of birth control, so i'm kind of biased about this one!!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> but it beats the heck out of having to take one more pill everyday. I think the website it www.nuvaring.com if you need more info.

Hope this helped

I by passed all the hormones & went with an IUD. Before those of you who are horrified say anything its not the old copper like it use to be that caused health problems. Its made of hard (yet flexible) plastic. I had it inserted 5 months after my daughter was born & unless you have complications you can keep it safely in for 10 years. I am on my 7th year & have no problems. My periods did get a bit heavier, but I was told to expect that. I might get my tubes tied next depending on my health. I didnt do it originally just in case another child was wanted. At this point even if I wanted another, I wouldnt go for it so we will see what happens!
