Working and CF

I'm in the same delima, wheezie. I worked full time, then I cut back to part time. I cut back because I was getting sick or needing to take time off work due to needing to rest.
Not only do I have CF but I also have 2 mitochondrial mutations and a thyroid problem. So I'm part time now, and I'm still struggling. I'm still needing FMLA and missing a day of week at work...I feel like its not really helping.

I tried for SSI and the neuorologist (? I think that when I said mitochondrial mutation they thought a neurologist could judge that and my CF...) said that I could work. So I went to work. Now I'm feeling frustraited cause I can't do what I did two years ago...

Money is getting tighter and tighter and I feel like I'm letting my family down because I'm too lazy to work.

I wish I knew what to do and that I could help others with this same problem. Unfortunately I'm at a loss.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. While I was in college, I wasn't working and was receiving SSI - after I graduated, I started looking for a job using an employment agency that works with the SSI Ticket to Work Program. After I got a job, I reported that income to SSI thinking they would discontinue my monthly allowance. The only thing that stopped for me was the SSDI, which is the state disability money. I'm actually still getting my federal SSI $. The check is a little over $800 a month, which really isn't that bad, but in California the cost of living is pretty high. If I were on SSI alone, I could probably afford a small apartment, but that's about it. As it is, my car was totaled earlier this month when it was rear-ended by an SUV, so now I have a car payment and I'm repaying student loans too. The money I make from working is how I pay all the bills and I use my SSI and a portion of my income for housing costs. I'm looking into becoming a Notary Public for extra income, thanks to a suggestion from my social worker at the clinic. If that pans out, I will be able to work my own hours and it might be a good way to supplement what I'm earning from my regular job. If it works out REALLY well, I may quit my regular job altogether. I'll keep y'all posted. Again, thanks so much for all the replies. It feels good to know I'm not the only one feeling this way or facing this kind of struggle.
