Hey, you know what's cool? They've been able to reproduce this in other patients by giving the patients bone marrow from the donor at the same time of the transplant. So far it has worked in 4/5 kidney transplant people. It's pretty amazing really. They basically exist with two immune systems....

Can you imagine if they can fine tune this so it works every time? Pretty amazing.....

It is exciting, but I think they are a little ways away from duplicating the bone marrow method in lung transplants... right now the donor needs to be living or brain dead. Exciting nonetheless!
