Worse lung

Just wondering if anyone else here has a lung that is a lot worse than the other.

My left lung is worse for me. Everytime I've had pneumonia its been in that lung. I've struggled more with mucus plugs in that lung. When I'm sick that lung is always more noisy and problematic

If I had to guess which lung is the worst for me I would guess my right lung, simply because the x-rays show that there is a little scarring on that side. And with that said I also think that is where my psuedo has been camping out.

I havent had an x-ray a in a year or two, so who knows what my lungs look like now.

Well my upper left lobe is my problem area - mainly under my left arm but slightly into my back as well. Every time I have had a big plug it is on that side, when I get most of my chest pain it is on that side, same goes for back pain (on the left), when I had my partial lung collapse it was in the left upper lobe. Same as you mentioned everything seems to camp out there or be worse in that area.

Also to add my docs have told me that the upper portions of my lungs are the worst as far as lung damage goes. They also said that if I had to have alot of damage that would be where I want it ... as apparently the lower lobes are larger.

Who knows, I am hoping to start really kicking the crap out of my lungs - all areas - once I get off IVs and can REALLY exercise. My lungs owe a few more good years and I intend to make them pay lol.

Take Care,
Lindsey

makes sense. bacteria is usually located in one area.... and colonizes in one area. so it makes sense that lung damage would be in that location.

Most CFers do have a lung that is worse.

When I was evaluated for lung transplant, they checked out the lung perfusion, as part of finding out what lung is worse. In surgery they remove the worse lung first and get the new one hooked up. That way you have your " better" lung left in, until the next lung is in.

My left side is more problematic. Not just the lung & keeping it clear, but the airway restriction & muscular issues. Yet oddly enough I can only sleep at that side. You would think laying on the worse side would make it harder to breath. Not for me!

My lower left lung is my bad spot. If I get any pain-its there. I also am not comfortable laying on that side when I sleep.
I have scarring there from when I had pneumonia at 5 yrs-but fortunately I have no further scarring anywhere else.
