Zyvox side effects or Stomach bug?

So I started Zyvox last Friday night...by Saturday morning, I was having diarhea (a few times Saturday and Sunday). Then slightly more normal Monday, but not quite. This is all normal for me when I am on Zyvox.

But last night I started to get bad stomach pains. I got home from teaching and was just sitting around, waiting to get ready for my next job. I noticed my mom had bought Oreo's, so I decided to try and have a glass of milk and Oreos. I haven't drank actual milk in about three months, mind you...thinking I may be allergic or intolerant to it. I thought this would be a good time to try and see how my stomach handles it. Well about fifteen minutes to a half hour AFTER I drank the milk (it was a VERY small glass) I started to feel gurgling and pain in my stomach. I figured it was just the milk making its way through.

Then I went to my other job and the pain did not cease. In fact it got worse. I could hardly stand up and would every once in a while have a fart that would make it feel better...but it would come right back. By 8:30, I was like I have to go home, this is awful. It was not as severe as the pain I have had before, but the fact that it was not going away made me worried. I ended up going home and throwing up once. The pain did not get immediately better, but was slightly better after throwing up. I went to bed and feel fine this morning...although I have not eaten anything.

My question to all of you is...could the Zyvox be building up in my system and making me feel this way? (I take it twice a day and had not taken it the second before the pain started...but it got worse after I took the Zyvox). Usually right after my first dose is when I start to feel nauseous from medications so I am leaning towards no...but I know things can be different. Or do these symptoms sound more like a stomach bug? Or maybe related to the lactose intolerance issues (I have eaten cheese and ice cream and not had these issues, but maybe just the milk)?

Thanks for reading. I do not get stomach bugs very often, so I am trying to see what my 'options' may be.

Caitlin,
I just finished a couple of weeks of IV Zyvox and I did get nauseous w/ the doses. Don't know that this would happen w/ the oral version, but thought I would mention it.

I have a lot of nausea with Zyvox and don't always have much appetite (QUITE unusual for me!). However, I've never had pain like you're describing.

Did you check the list of side effects? It seems to me abdominal pain might be listed as one of the possible serious side effects of the drug. I could be mixing it up with a different antibiotic, though.

Hope you feel better soon!
