piccs and clots

when i had my picc pulled 3 weeks ago it came out fine. i always look the other way, so i personally didn't see it, but the nurse said i had a clot. there was alot of blood on the table. she held pressure for a while, bandaged it and sent me home as normal. i thought nothing of it.
later that night when i took my shirt off, my bandage started to fall off. so i gently began to fully remove it to put a new one on. as i pulled it off, what i thought was a scab began to come off too. but it kept coming...and coming and coming till it was about 3 inches. the best way to describe it was that it looked like a thin worm. i panicked and stopped and it just went back into my arm. if this sounds confusing to you, imagine how i felt at the time.
i called my sister in law who is a nurse and she said to see if i could very very gently pull at it. i did that, as i had done before, but this time it came out further, and then came out fully and my arm started bleeding heavily.
she told me to stay calm, and apply tons of pressure to the site which i did and it stopped. i put iodine and alcohol on it, taped it and left it alone to heal.
nothing like this has ever happened to me after having many piccs. i'm worried that there is a clot floating around inside me or something. i'm sure that is rare and my sil said that it would just get into my blood stream and dissolve on its own, but you still feel eerie about it, you know.
maybe this is a shot in the dark, but have any of you guys heard of something like this? what would u do?
i see the doc on monday. i'm going to mention it.

I've never had that happen to me. I can only imagine how freaked out you were. I know I would be. You didnt happen to save it to show to the doctor, did u? Or take a picture of it with a digital camera to show him so he will know what you are talking about. Try not to worry to much, but I would definately meantion it to him and your concerns about it when you see him on Monday. Good luck. Let us know what he says. I'm kinda curious to know myself.

Was it part of your picc line? My doctor said that sometimes they cut it or something and it goes in pieces when they put it in? I didn't really understand it, but that's what I thought about when I read this.
