Well, it sounded so easy.

M is scheduled for outpatient oral surgery next Tuesday. We had a pre-op check today with the CF clinic to get the ok.

Unfortunately, he has had a cold (already on oral abx). CF doc would not approve him for surgery w/o IV abx.

In addition, apparently his sleep study in Sept (which we never heard any results on) was "bad" and he wants an ENT consult and possibly try to squeeze tonsils/adnoids in while he is in next week.

Thus we are currently in lockup for at least until his surgery next week.

Well, I was going to come post what was going on, but obviously you beat me to it, Tom. Guess that means y'all are starting to settle in.

Mel, Tom's in the hospital in lock-up. I'm home with the other 6 kids. Normally, we'd try taking turns. But, if they want to do anything with radiation (like an x-ray), I can't stay and hold M's hand. And, M cannot, not, not tolerate such procedures without someone staying with him. Plus, there's the whole Daddy magic factor. Cause, you know, Daddy keeps all the monsters at bay and makes even scared 6 year olds feel safe.

We'll go visit them in lock-up after my perinatalogist appointment tomorrow. And, we'll cart in Thanksgiving meal on Thursday for everyone. The 6 at home will be okay...all except the 2 year old who hasn't quite figured out Daddy won't be home to put her to bed tonight so isn't heartbroken *yet*.

Tom would say I threw him to the sharks though. Doctor said he wouldn't sign off on the surgery if we didn't get at least a week of IV antibiotics first. I've been dealing with these rotten teeth since the poor kid came home, and because we're in limbo-land on the adoption (filed with the courts today but still waiting for our court date to finalize), we have to get a court order for sedation and anesthesia. The court order we got for this dental surgery has an expiration date. If we don't get surgery done next Tuesday, we either have to get another consent from the courts...or wait until after we finalize. Dental surgery books up 4 months in advance and they actually bumped someone to fit M in before his anesthesia consent expired.

Doctor said a week of IV antibiotics or no surgery. I volunteered Tom for the week. Okay, I guess I DID throw him to the sharks. But, its what M needed. And, if I can garner any sympathy for my generousity in setting Tom out for sharkbait I do get to single parent 6 kids while 9 months pregnant over Thanksgiving this next week <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">
