Update-Aug 5th: Just talked to Mel,and she is doing ok. Has had a brief bout with hemophysis, but is not too bad like the last time she was in. She is on Vitamin K, and they are watching her. She went down for an xray this pm and will know more later. She is still on TPM, but is also on steroids, and said her appetite just kicked into overdrive!!!! I'm glad for the increased appetite--yay--wait untill Jada sees this! So our Mel is filling out and putting on the weight--will be already for that swimsuit when the cruise begins She also is getting a portable O2 for the cruise. So the planning for the cruise continues!

Update July 31:
Mel is feeling lots better, still on TPN, has gained 7 pounds! Way to fill out the bathing suit! She is on 3L at rest, and 5L walking. She still has the thrush, and has throat lozenges that seem to be helping. Great news, her social worker is going to try to get her a bigger cabin for medical purposes, since she will have medical equipment. She has her very own Dr. McSpanish, and says he is so cute, and he took the same cruise a few months ago, so they discuss it. She is doing great with the Wii, and is asking for it for Christmas--hear that Santa? Hopefully she will be out by next week-end.

Just talked to Mel, and her voice sounds so much stronger! She got her PICC line today and they made it on the first try! She thinks it was because she had been hydrated by IV's for 3 days. She will start TPN in a few days and I'm sure that will help her feel stonger also. (Got to get her filled out for those swimsuit poses on her trip!) She has cultured for MRSA and Pseudo, but luckily they are succeptible to the antibiotics she is taking. She hasn't cultured MRSA since 2005.

She walked around the floor today, on 10L, and was able to cough better afterwards. She is on 5L while sitting around, but on 10w/activity. So, we can keep hoping and praying that she gets stronger for the big criuse!
