    meeting someone with cf

Huh, I've never had that type of experience. But if you really think this is going to be a future issue and interfere with your work it's something you should discuss with the other guy. I have my viewpoint on this whole issue, but if it were me and I found out someone was avoiding me, was...

    Cayston

As far as I'm aware Cayston only comes from the CF pharm so it will also come with the sterilizer. Honestly, I rarely use the Nuk, maybe once 2 or 3 times during my Cayston months. I just rinse everything off and air dry. As far as the med itself, it's amazing. It consistently bumps my PFTs...

    Siblings without CF

Yeah, then it can be really bad. I know of a family that has 5 children, all with CF. I think I'd call it quits after the 2nd one... and then you get into the odds of someone with CF having a kid with a carrier and it gets ugly. My cousin is dating a guy with CF and they wont even talk about...

    Travel Advice Needed

Oh, and just another tidbit: maybe you could discuss with her about uping her treatments a few weeks before her trip and really doing them good that way if she does miss a few on her trip it wont be as much of an issue.

IV at home.... in middle of night

I've totally done that in the past and have had no problems. Just take it slow (no jumping 3 hours ahead). That way within a few days you could be on a slightly more normal schedule, although every 8 hrs is still a crapshoot.

    Nocardia

Yeah, I'm actually in the Southwest desert. I did some back research awhile ago and it's apparently in the soil, or "organic matter" to be specific, which I thought was hilarious because uh, what "organic matter" here?! We got cactus and dirt. Oh, and the meds I took were oral, not IV. I don't...

    Nocardia

Welcome to the Norcardia club, population I'm not sure.... I grew Nocardia about 4-5 years ago and I think, I think it's finally gone. It's a PITA to get rid of. I first was on minocycline for about 2 years, stopped for a year, grew it again, and have been on Sulfameth for about a year. The CF...

    sore muscles from coughing.

Also, as more of a preventative measure you could hug a pillow while coughing. I used to do that all the time when I'd get really bad coughing fits that lasted for days. It helps take some of the pressure off, or at least it seems to.

    "Mandatory" glucose tolerance testing?

That's enough. I'm requesting this thread be locked or deleted. Nothing good is coming of it and obviously some cannot conduct themselves in a respectful manner on the internet.

    DIOS? what is it exactly

I've heard that before. A few years back I was hospitalized for an obstruction and they called it meconium equivalent since I had ileus as a baby, surgery and all. I'm glad I found this thread because this pretty much describes how I've been feeling for the past year or so but didn't know there...

    TRAVELING ?! What countries

Hey just wondering what kind of concentrator is it? My dad owns a local medical supply company and he was telling me that they make portable ones that tiny tiny tiny nowadays that you can easily take on airplanes. I think it's great! Plus small medical equipment is cool :)

    TRAVELING ?! What countries

Hey there, I'm glad to hear you want to travel and it's a great goal to have. While I've never personally been to Buenos Aires I've spent loads of time in Ecuador visiting family and went to Peru and Machu Picchu last Christmas. Any time I go it's been fine CF wise. You can pack a little...

    "Mandatory" glucose tolerance testing?

Did I ever say that I thought I had it worse? No. I know very well that I got off lucky. That doesn't mean I'm not human and don't have nerve endings. You know most of us actually have it better off than millions of others out there who are afflicted with diseases or situations so horrific we...

    "Mandatory" glucose tolerance testing?

I've heard from nurses that it's the most painful spot to draw blood and no one likes doing it. The skin is so thin and sensitive there.... ouch. The last PICC line I had the home health phlebotomist came out (I thought she was the nurse) and she said she'd have to draw blood from my wrist and...

    "Mandatory" glucose tolerance testing?

I'm only every going to punch someone if they try to take blood from my wrist. Have you ever had that done? It's extremely, extremely painful. Since you are so good at sarcasm I thought you'd see it when I first mentioned that minor issue. For the record, my CF is very, very, very mild. I've...

    "Mandatory" glucose tolerance testing?

Dude, what the hell is your problem? You're just making yourself look like an ass and people don't appreciate it. Not everyone has "I'm in the CF club" tattooed to their foreheads so chill. It's sad to see that a stupid disease can turn someone so bitter. Thanks for the replies from everyone...

Can you be pancreatic sufficient if ddf508? Stomache aches if no enzymes?

Ugh, I'm the same way. When I was younger I'd have hell to pay if I missed anything, even if I took 2 less than I should've. But now... I've gone entire weekends without a pill and nothing. It's kind of disconcerting actually. I don't even know what exactly will give me stomachaches nowadays...

    "Mandatory" glucose tolerance testing?

I don't have any problems with needles etc (but the next person who tries to draw blood from my wrist will get punched in the face). My big reason for not wanting the test RIGHT NOW is because I had a faulty one done summer 2011 at the hospital. Basically the test was done incorrectly and they...

    "Mandatory" glucose tolerance testing?

Okay, obviously not really "mandatory" but it sure feels like it. I had an appt at the CF clinic yesterday and was told off by the RT for not doing the glucose tolerance test they had ordered a few months before. Why? Because the last test I did was a DISASTER, like horrifically, emotionally...

Please drink lots of water cfers!

I'm sorry to hear you've got stones, they sound like an.... adventure, to say the least. Let us know how you resolve it. This reminds me, when I was taking anatomy as a course we got to the kidneys and of course talked about kidney stones, and you'd look across the room and eeeeeeveryone was...
