    IV side effects

Side effects range from drug to drug. I usually get nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, pain in my joints and back and general fatigue. You do have to watch out for allergic reactions though. Some even take awhile to present themselves. When I was on Zosyn I initially got a fever and pain that went...

    Anyone on Fortaz

Good for you that you found something that works. If the hemoptysis is under control I'd continue as well. Nebulized medications are always better for us because you get a really high concentration of the medicine in the affected mucus. I have a question though. Where do you get your Fortaz...

    Pre-mixed Colistin

Yea, I'm starting Colistin next week and the nurse told me about the problems with pre-mixed. She said that someone died from Colistin that they reconstituted and stored in the refrigerator. So idk if the "premixed" one-use ones are an issue, but I am being ordered 60 150mg vials for a month...

    resistant to Itaconzole

Antifungals always are a bad idea IMHO unless you really need them. All of them from Diflucan to V-FEnd are really ahrd on your liver and can create toxicity in even a single infusion. I had a toxic reaction to Amphotericerin B and switched the V-Fend. Hopefully the fungus isn't causing too big...

    RA Factor in lung disease??

Do you have any joint pain? I don't have RA, but I have a lot of pain from psoraitic arthritic and CF-relating inflammation. It might be helpful in the long run that you have this and don't have pain yet. Whether you can do treatments that can prevent/relegate the pain in the future that people...

    How big are your lungs?

I think the symptom "barrel-chest" is common in people with CF. I deal with a lot of lung inflammation, so I would asume that my lungs are bigger.

Question for those with ports or considering a port

I would still love a less noticible one though. Whenever I go to the beach people ask me about my G-Tube and port. But when I gained weight a few months ago with Megace I was fine. But the main audience for the port would be people who generally have weight issues (cancer/CF/chronic illnesses)...

    IV zyvox vs oral

Orals ftw. I hate IVs so much. Showers, even with an AquaGuard are not fun at all. Plus in general IVs+alcohol = bad but orals are less hepatoxic/renaltoxic... guess b/c of the lower bioavailablility. We're just trying anything now b/c I am resistant to everything, so I hope the Zyvox works some...

Question for those with ports or considering a port

I access my port myself. It is insanely easy, and more than that I like not having to deal with nurses coming to my dorm room (they always get lost). Now that I'm on Tobra, the latter reason isn't much of one anymore. But seriously, it's mad easy and having a port is far better than a PICC line...

    Buspar?

Anyone here take Buspar for anxiety? I see that the indications say not to use it in people with COPD, and while I realize that CF is not the same as COPD I was wondering if a person with CF would be OK taking it. My psychiatrist is the one prescribing this not my CF doctor, so I don't know if...
