    Sinus Surgery

I had the surgery (functional endoscopic sinus surgery) about 12 or 13 years ago (LONG before anyone thought I might have CF). But anyway, I knew I needed it because high doses of antibiotics for 6 months straight only kept me just well enough to function in college, but I still had terrible...

    Welcome Ambry Genetics

Steve, Thanks so much for the response. I have been reading both Quest's and Ambry's websites and they seem to claim different numbers of known mutations - I believe Ambry says it can detect around 1500 and Quest says it detects "all but 13 of the currently known 1006 mutations." I don't know...

    Questions about adult diagnosis

Yes, my allergist is a keeper! She's the first doctor I've ever been to who looked at the big picture of my history and suggested there might be an explanation for it. Thanks for responding; I will keep you all posted when I hear more.

R75Q variant - does it mean anything?

Hi, I posted this question for Steve in the Ambry thread but thought I'd put it to all of you, too... My allergist had me tested for CF because she couldn't figure out why my cough & sinusitis has been getting worse for a few years. After a borderline sweat (conductivity) test, she ordered a...

    Questions about adult diagnosis

I picked up a hard copy of my lab results this morning and now I can see why my doctor sounded confused. I have ONE Cf mutation - G551D, and ONE CF variant, which is R75Q. This is not classified as an actual mutation and the lab interpretation says it could be a benign polymorphism or it could...
