    Treatment routine and social life

comfort level makes a lot of sense! I need to remember that. thank you. Input is always great. I'm trying to learn how to be more proactive with my health rather than just maintaining and waiting for it to get bad.

    very scared and worried mom

I would encourage you to try (in addition to your other treatments) Reliv. I have been on it for 2 years now and my health is getting better and better, which is not what you'd expect in your mid-20s after having had a baby. I had a tough time prior to getting pregnant and as soon as baby was...

    help me read PFTs please

What do these differnt things measure? What is more or less important? And what are the litre values ideally supposed to be?FVCFEV1FEF 25-75%FEF 50%FEF 75%PEFI know FVC is forced vital capacity, but what does that mean? I used to think that this was the number people wanted when they ask you...

    Mucinex......?

I started taking Mucinex about a month ago to help thin mucus. I notice that I need to cough less to clear whatever is bothering me. I don't feel the need to cough as frequently either. If it thins cervical mucus and I'm able to get pregnant again, that would be a great thing, too.

    Treatment routine and social life

Oh no! Not another question about routines! Yes. OK, now that I'm getting the hang of the new routine, what di I do with the social life that just flew out the window? Do you just leave in the middle of a gathering because it's almost time for a tx? If company is at your house, do you just say...

Amnio results indicated the baby has CF

Allan - glad to see such caring motivated parents. Your child is blessed and will do better simply because you are educating yourselves. I would encourage you to breastfeed (if not exclusively, then add supplements). Colostrum, the first milk has great blockage clearing enzymes in it. It also is...

    Symptomatic Carrier

My younger sister has had almost all the same symptoms as myself but to a lesser degree. Sinus, asthma, kindey stones, digestive issues (takes enzymes). But her sweat tests were neg. and her gene-screen came back as a carrier. We in the CF community talked about symptomatic carriers for a long...

    Peers

I concur! I hated that part of college and working and single life. The trying to be like everybody else, or being myself and finding no one who could really relate to me in any significant way. I must say though, it has gotten so much better since I got married and started teaching and then...

I am trying to write a paper........would really appreciate any info

1 - I was 7 months old and a sweat test was done that confirmed CF rather than the nebulous "failure to thrive"2 - I remember before percussors and the Vest when my parents had to do manual CPT (chest percussion therapy) on me. It took about an hour and was mildly effective. The percussors they...

    Coming Soon

I am working on building a website with the details of my pregnancy and birth with first (hopefully not last) child, Murren. This site will also have information about fertility, healthy cycles and body awareness. My aim is to provide first-hand knowledge of options for women with CF desiring...

Ladybug, sorry it took me a while to get back to you. This thread got buried. I have read quite a bit of research on the issue and though it doesn't match the theoretical outcomes, the stats show that pregnancy has no effect on overall CF health. If you're in good shape when you get pregnant and...

Treatment Routine Problems - Finding Time!

Thanks everyone for your support and encouragement. I think it is always hard to have your life changed in any significant way, especially when you are a care-taker of others and your routine affects their routine. You have all had great ideas and I'm not done experimenting. I think that doing...

    Presentation

You could talk about the adcances in science as far as discovery of the gene, improvements in genetic testing, finding new and improving old drugs to treat CF - that's the science part. Technology could be like the vest, aerosols, PFT testing machines, CT scans for sinuses and other things...
