    Celebrating 7 year Transplant anniversary!

Very happy for you! I do have a few questions though, did you ever have any trouble with getting pneumonia rather often during like the first year post xplant? Do you have any tips on things to stay away from to help prevent this infection? I do know some things but was just wanting your input...

My husband just had a transplant...some of his nurses and his surgeon are saying...

I am sorry that it has been so long-and you might not even read this, but I did ask him. He told me that when he opened his eyes and air filled the entirety of his lungs he finally knew what it was like to really "just breathe." Even though he was in a lot of pain he said he couldn't believe...

My husband just had a transplant...some of his nurses and his surgeon are saying...

He can't have certain foods and drinks. For example, they said he isn't allowed to have any fruits or vegetables that are fresh (otherwise, they have to be cooked) And he cannot have stuff like sushi (with the raw fish in it) And water that isn't bottled. Is some of this true, and do any of you...

    Transplant and working with animals

My husbands transplant doctor told us to never have a cat, because there is something they can carry in their feces they can severely hurt someone whose has a transplant. You would have to wash your hands if you did come in contact with an animal and he even said you shouldn't really even be...

Just got a port, don't really know what do do with it.

Yes, these two are correct. My husband has a port as well, but I'd just like to restate that it is very important that you flush it with saline and heparin once a month if it is not accessed because if you don't, there is a possibility that it can clot up-which in some cases require surgery to...

Husband is not sure he can handle the stresses of CF life...

I just feel bad for you. Marriage is supposed to be in sickness and in health. He really should have thought about the sick part too, especially marrying you knowing that you had CF. I just married my husband last October and I will never, ever, leave him. I've been with him for 3 years and I...

    Husbands in Hospital

Last time he was in the hospital was back September 2011. He is in again. His lung function is 17% and we are going to talk to the lung transplant specialists today so that he can be listed as active again on the list. I'm worried right now because his x-ray showed a pocket of something in his...

    Intense pain in upper back...?

My husband goes to a chiropractor for his back pain and it is helping him out tremendously. Our chiro has even showed him some exercises that would open up his chest cavity for easier breathing too. I'd go to a ER first to get checked out if it's terrible, then follow up w/ a chiro?

    Hospital Tips

Having support there with you whenever possible. I am lucky enough to be able to be with my husband a lot at the hospital and stay with him every night. The more support and love you have around you makes things easier. You really have to try to make their stay feel like they are somewhat at home.
