Possible new way to fight lung infections

This is a long but informative article about an oral form of Gallium that sounds promising. Take a look. http://www.surechem.org/index.php?Action=document&docId=2269613&db=USPTOA&page=8&perpage=10&generalsort=latest&db_query=30%3A27%3ABNRNXUUZRGQAQC-UHFFFAOYSA-N%3A7%3A5%3Ainchi%3A2%3A0%3A

Possible new way to fight lung infections

This was the first and second clinical trials proposal for Univ. of Iowa. I believe these are finished and they are trying to get 3rd phase clinical trials going but I've heard it's slow going. We need more people to ask about this and help inform others. Gallium, a Potential New Therapeutic for...

Possible new way to fight lung infections

Yes, I think this thread is messed up too. When I look at it on hybrid or threaded mode it starts repeating the 2007 posts again towards the end of the post lost? Is there a moderator who can look at this?

Tobi to blame for lung colapse due to excesive drying out..now to try collistin

Just a suggestion....you might want to make sure that you are clear that this was just YOU that had problems with Tobi. There are a whole lot of people with CF that have not had problems with it and need it to clear up infections. It worries me when someone gets on here and says a drug is awful...

Possible new way to fight lung infections

I was on it for a continuous 5 day iv infusion. They do that to establish a level of the drug in the system. Apparently the drug is stored in fat cells so it continues to stay in the body for a period of time after the 5 day infusion. In my case the first few days I didn't feel any better, but...

Possible new way to fight lung infections

Exactly. I don't see any mention of any other resistant bacteria except pseudomonas but it's probably because they have only completed 2 clinical trials. Right now they are focusing all their efforts on the next kalydeco, which is great, but we still need new drugs in the interim to help keep...

Possible new way to fight lung infections

That's right. It is a 5 day drip but in my case it was Really worth it. I had no side effects and after the 5 days you start to feel progressively better as your resistant pseudomonas is killed off. The gallium nitrate is stored in the fat in your body and stays there for months killing off...

Possible new way to fight lung infections

Yes. You can find several studies and lots of information dating back to 2007 if you do a google search for Gallium Nitrate + cystic fibrosis. I put this message out here because everyone I have talked to has never heard of it or what it can do for patients with pseudomonas. We NEED to get the...

Possible new way to fight lung infections

I know this is an old blog but this drug needs attention now. I was in the second clinical trials for this drug in June of 2011 and I had significant results. I had been going into the hospital every 3 months for the last several years. After participating in the study my functions jumped up...
