First, I want to make sure everyone knows that Mary was the one doing all the planning and organizing. I was merely an attendee of this FANTASTIC evening.

I had organized a couple of fundraisers last spring, and we saved enough out of what was raised then to allow us to attend this Gala evening. We got to attend with some of our best friends and fellow theater company members who were involved in our Improv Comedy fundraiser. The rest of the money raised last spring went to the Great Strides walk. It was so great to be able to support two CFF events with our fundraisers.

Let me tell you guys, Mary and her crew did an absolutely incredible job with thie gala. The venue was beautiful (Pier Wisconsin/Discovery World...a must-see if you ever visit Milwaukee) the food was divine (I'm still salivating at the thought of the London Broil appetizers and the scallops that were served with steak for dinner. The auction was amazing. And dessert? OMG, dessert!

We had the opportunity to share a table with a very generous supporter of the CFF. We didnt know it until he started bidding on auction items, spontaneously donated an additional item to be acutioned (luxury box with food at Friday's sold-out Brewer's game...) and casually threw $1,000 into the donation box on our table. IT was amazing to watch this man, in the span of a few hours, donate more than we had raised with all our events...which took months of preperation!

Awed by his donations, I was still able to look him in the eye and say, "Thank you." He simply smiled and said "your welcome." It felt good to be able to say it directly to him, and I think he appreciated the opportunity to acnowledge my thanks, too. It was just a powerful moment, one of the best of the evening for me.

So, to everyone who participated in, planned, or supported a fundraiser this year...THANK YOU!

By the way, incase you are wondering, that's me on the left in that picture.
