120 mg Prednisone

Hi everyone. I went to the ER today about my infection and my doctor put me on 120 mg. prednisone for three days, tapering after that. He feels this might help me more than IVs, which I agree with. If I am not better by Friday then it is IV time.

I am currently on 10 mg. prednisone. What can I expect from this bump? I know that I will be hungry, any tips on controlling that? I really do not want to gain weight or become an emotional wreck with this.

My experience has taught me that as long as I stay super well hydrated, I don't get as puffy. Right now I too am on 10mg of prednisone and am doing pretty well. My face isn't puffy and my stomach is only slightly pooched out, but a lot of that is from a recent bowel obstruction.

As to the emotions, try your best to get enough sleep and that should help. Prednisone can interfere with sleep, even at low doses, so you might want to try an over-the-counter sleep aid like Tylenol Simply Sleep.

These are just my suggestions as a fellow CFer in a similar boat, so take it at face value. I'm not a medical professional. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Sue-that is a HIGH dose. I get very very anxious on 40-60mg. I have my doc prescribe me xanax to go along with the prednisone. I also take tylenol pm as needed.
