my daughter is 20 months old and 15 months is about the age in which she started "acting out" against her vest, creon, and neb treatment......wish i could tell you it got better!....but, it hasnt!!! i think its a stage and age thing! i was panicking when it first happened and then i realized just about everyone i knew with kids the same age were having a problem with them "acting out" against something...its just that our kids have so much more to rebel against!! good luck!!

We have found that if we let Luke "help" us with his treatments, then he is more compliant. He helps me get his vest out and take the hoses out and "helps" put the hoses in. He "helps" put his medicine in the neb cups (I put them in and then hand him the empty vial and he "puts" the rest in). We also started having him swallow the whole capsule at about 18 months. He seemed to not like the beads and I had read on this site that others had been successful with getting their kids to swallow their creon without having to open them. So we tried it and it worked. He swallows them with just a drink now. In fact we have to hand him the pills and he does it himself. He throws a fit if anyone tries to put them in his mouth! So maybe we created a monster by letting him "help" too much! But it worked.
With a new baby on the way it may help to really play up that big brother stuff!

Ah yes, I remember how letting Emily "help" worked wonders too! Now that I think about it, I vividly remember watchin in amazement one night as she calmly held the nebulizer mask to her face by herself...the same one she had pushed and kicked away that morning while I held it. This is a really good tip for this age group. It is all about independence.
