Your daughter is beautiful! My daughter had a PICC line 2 years ago. So far you've gotten some good advice. Definately request the earliest time slot for the PICC line placement. My daughter kept getting "bumped" for emergencys and eneded up being nothing by mouth til 5pm when she hadn't had anything to eat since before midnight the night before. I was pissed but the squeaky wheel gets the grease, always remember that. Also, my daughter needed to have her PICC line placed with fluoroscopy by a special radiologist doc because the IV team just couldn't get it in. They do it in interventional radiology, the doc was fantastic and got it in first try, just something you may want to ask about, if needed. Are you staying in the hospital fot the whole 2 weeks? I suggest bringing something to keepyour mind off stuff, I read books while my daughter napped. Also, bring any food you or your daughter may like. I hope all goes smoothly. Remember to ask question to the nurses and docs, bring a pen and paper to write you question/answers down. I find this helpful especially is you're stressed out or tired.

hi Jennifer,
My son Darin had 2 picc lines already. He'll be 10 in a few weeks. It's much better then an IV. Then can even take blood samples from the PICC so they don't need to stick them. Ememla cream is great for the IV before the PICC. My son had no problems with it! Good Luck! I hope your daughter will be feeling better soon!
