2 1/2 year old

I have a question. how much should a 2 1/2 year old should weight? My son has not gain weight in six month and the doc want to give him some medicin to estimulate his appitite because last time we were there he only gain one pound.
Marcos is a very active kid but a very peeky eater so the little he eats he loses because he is jumping and runing all day. There are some times that I'm so estress out on trying to make him eat. The only thing that is keeping him up is that he drinks pediasure 3 to 4 time a day. But what is going to happen when he geats older. Right now he geats WIC and we geat his pediasure through them but what is going to happen when he turns five and we can not afford to buy so many pediasures for him.

That was a tough age for us because DS was/is so picky. I pretty much figured out what he liked to eat and fed him that, even if it meant every single meal. We went to Mexico for a wedding for 5 days and I packed premixed carnation instant breakfast, juice boxes, mini cans of spagettios, fruit snacks and peanut butter. With the exception of a hamburger at Burger King one afternoon and fruit & dried cereal at a buffet -- that's all he ate. I was just thrilled that he ate, even if it was for every single meal.

These days it's a little easier because he started being a big lunch eater -- maybe it's peer pressure at preschool but there are a LOT of things he'll eat there that he won't touch at home.

For breakfast I give him vanilla carnation instant breakfast made with whole milk and cream. He gets it again with his supper. If he asks for a glass of milk -- I give him whole milk but throw in a dash of cream. When I make him spagettios, I throw in some olive oil. Noodles olive oil or butter. Some here suggested mixing some oil in with his favorite snack -- ketchup <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I'm not sure how much a 2 1/2 year old should way. You could probably do a search for toddler growth/percentile. Recently DS had a check up and he hadn't gained any weight since his last appointment and at the time was told he had a "good layer of fat on him", but he had grown several inches. Is he getting taller? Stretching out?

Another thing I found was to push the snacks when DS, who is also a very busy boy, is sitting down. When I pick him up from preschool -- I have a snack and some juice or water waiting for him in the car. When we do his cpt after school, he usually munches on peanuts or has a snack. He has his own snack cupboard, so he can choose what he wants to eat and it's in a separate space where I won't think about it and won't raid when I think I need a snack.

Hi If all he'll do is drink juice or pedialyte etc., see if you can sneak a tablespoon or two of olive oil, or vegetable oil into it. It's a suggestion I got one time and it's called "Fat Juice".

Where do you live? Do you take your son to an accredited CF center? If you do go to a CF center, talk to a social worker there. I'm sure there are programs to help you get what you need. It is so expensive to keep our CFers healthy. I completely understand.
