hi jen

my dd is 1 month and 2 days old today. she was born on feb 27th. at 4 days old she was sent to see a DR because of her "constipation" they said she needed a barrium enima. she ended up having meconium ileus and had the surgery. she just got released from the nicu last monday. her cf was confirmed a few days after the surgery through the newborn screen test and a dna test the hospital ran before the newborn screen test came back. she has DDf508. we as well had not a single clue we carried this. it was a total shock! the DR first thought she had hirschprungs disease but also told us CF was possible. we read up on both. the next day i went to the nicu to see her and i licked her forehead. i knew then she had cf before any test said eitherway....

i just want you to know were in the same boat... new to all this. scared for our baby. still in shock this is even happening, adjusting to all the changes we will have to make, and trying to get over the anger that we thought we would be taking a healthy baby home after delivery. i never thought this would happen to us...

reading your post was like we typed it ourselves. feel free to send a message if you need to talk <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

Jen, just know that you are not alone. Congrats on the continued progress. So many thoughts and prayers are out thinking of you and Zeke. Keep your head up, progress toward a cure is made each day.

I just recently joined this site and I have found everyone very helpful. My son is 7 weeks and was diagnosed at 2 weeks, I am still very lost but getting better at dealing. After we heard about the newborn screen results I started researching and was well informed when we went for the sweat test.I found it funny that a response to your post said they licked their daughter because that's what my mother did after we heard about the newborn screen and were waiting for a sweat test.Congratulations on the new addition to your family.
