2008 Caretaker's "Wish List"

Hi Everyone. I hope you all are working toward a wonderful 2008.

I tend to get down too much about this whole CF thing and overwhelmed, so I thought that maybe we could help build each other up by creating a wish list (a positive one) for 2008 for OURSELVES. I know as a mom I feel guilty just thinking about myself and my needs/wants, and because I feel guilty thinking about myself sometimes, I thought this might be a nice outlet with NO GUILTY STRINGS attached!

Just a silly thought, but thought it might help us remember while taking care of everyone else and working with our significant others to care for our children, spouses, etc. with CF or other illnesses, we need to take care of ourselves. I'm just going to add to it when I think of things. If you think of things just add them. Don't feel pressured to add everything at once.

These are NOT resolutions, they are wishes for ourselves that should be positive for us. They do not have to be realistic, just something that the thought of achieving in 2008 makes you feel good about yourself (but you won't beat yourself up about if you don't achieve it).

Here's my first two...

Lose 1 pound a week in 2008. (HA HA HA)
Take 30 minutes a day for myself to EXERCISE!

Here's to sharing our hopes and dreams for ourselves in 2008.

Emily

PS: I'm not EXCLUDING other folks, I just know as a caretaker I feel guilty thinking about me when my child is worse off than I am. Feel free to share as well!

What an absolutely wonderful idea! We definitely need to keep this up.

We definitely tend to forget about ourselves in the midst of dealing with even NORMAL kid issues...let alone adding CF in the mix. I went to my doctor a few months ago and he asked me "When are you going to actually take care of YOURSELF?" Hmmmmm...hadn't thought about it. lol!

My goal in '08 is to get organized as well as living a more healthy life.
Also, find a church I like (I have a hard time with that) and start going.

Great idea, AbbysMama!

Ahhh...
Win the lottery so I can hire a maid to keep my house clean! No wait! An entire cleaning crew to clean my house regularly!
too unrealistic???
Okay then how about...Eat healthier in the hopes of magically loosing weight?
Yaaa I like the sound of that.
But to eat healthier I should hire a chef to make me tasty, but healthy meals and for that I need to win the lottery.
After I win the lottery I will hire a masseuse to give me regular back and shoulder massages, and go on (husband approved) dates with all my favorite actors that I have secret crushes on!
In my head the grass is always green, free of creeping charley, and there is always a beautiful rainbow after it rains.

But if I was to be more realistic for a moment and hoping for something just for me it would that in 2008 I would be albe to see at least three movies in the movie theater and to go on at least two dates with my husband.
Now there is something to make me smile.

Happy New Year everyone! May this year be better then last

Get control of my out-of-control snacking and get some exercise.

Hire a cleaning lady to come in once a week.

Get organized regarding meals, meal preparation, so we're not always eating out or eathing convenience items.

And I'd love to win the lottery, so we can purchase a weekend farm/lake home , so we could have a place to call our own and have a place to stay when all the relatives get together in the summer, so DS can spend more time with his cousins. Currently there's usually not a lot of room at my inlaws and we have lots of stuff (vest, meds, nebulizer, extra snacks). Would be a LOT less stress.

Go on a tropical vacation with the family (me, DH and DS).
