I love this post!

There are so many things, where do I begin...

I have to agree with one of the posts about organization(fourkidsmom) I would love to get my whole house organized, my husband is an organized freak! (meant in a nice way) I just can't seem to keep up with it or lets say keep it that way.

I would love to be a bit happier in 2008.

Have a girls night out-at least once a month or so.

It would be great to meet Mom's of cf'ers and have coffee once in a while and share experiences and support one another!!!!

HUGS to all the care givers!!!

I would LOVE this! We should get a network of parents in our areas. Maybe once a month we could meet for coffee (or margaritas).

My wish this year is to encourage the kids to take more control of their own health and care. We have been so consumed with their care, its hard to step back and allow them to become more responsible. It would take some of the daily stress away from us AND get the kids ready to be more independent. WIN/WIN!

And Ok, the lottery for me too!

What great idea! And thanks for reminding us how very, critically important it is for us to take care of ourselves without guilt. We can't take very good care of our kids when we are frazzled. And, the other thing is this: Our kids learn from our modeling. If we don't take the time to take care of ourselves, then they won't learn how to take care of themselves, either.

So, my goal for 2008? To exercise at least 3 x per week.

And, here's the biggie: To practice being thankful/ grateful. No matter what happens. With my husbannd's forced job change he took a big cut in pay. I've been bummed about it but have decided to be grateful he has a job at all (he works for a homebuilder so that's something!). And, our medical benies were cut quite a bit, too. I was bummed. But, I have decided to be thankful that we have insurance at all. I gotta say, I feel alot better about this now than when I was griping about what we lost. Practice thankfulness each and every day and our kids will learn to be thankful, too.

Happy New Year!!!

Hello there! It has been a long time since I posted, but thought I would jump in and say hello again. I see that many of us CF moms want to lose weight. It is very hard to take care of ourselves & keep up the diet of our little ones & not take bites of their delicious food that is HORRIBLE for us! But doesn't it taste better with butter & whipping cream?????? LOL!

Anyway, I am sure my story mirrors many of yours. You found out about CF, it swallowed your life & "me" time. You constantly worry, fuss & everything else that comes with our new lifestyle. And of course...you gain weight! I did. Three things hit my body at once: hit my 30's (slower metabolism), stopped nursing & found out about Erin's cf. I gained about 25 lbs within a year. We have known about her cf now 5 years & I still feel like I am adjusting.

Well, I am not a dieter & don't advocate a lot of the programs out there. But, I did find one book (by accident) that made sense. I somewhat followed it & it made a difference in my life. I was eating too much sugar & bread. It is called Dr. Gott's No Sugar, No flour diet. Sounds insane, but is not really. I did not follow the no flour entirely, but watched my sugar intake. I cut out real sugar in my coffee, quit sodas & only ate desert once a week. I tried not to eat anything with flour...very hard, but considerably cut down. The good thing about this one is you can eat potatoes, cheese & I ate chips that were not tortilla chips. I ate fresh fruit & veggies with normal portions of meat. My saving grace was a pb & j (sugar free j) on wheat.

Anyway, I lost 20 lbs rather quickly & gained an amazing amount of energy. I quit having headaches and night & rested better. My hang-up was sugar & processed "snack foods". You don't need to buy the book, but I just wanted to share a very simple, non-restrictive way that I lost my weight. I am healthier for it .

Good luck to all!!!
