2nd Marathon: DONE

Hello All!

I have not been very active on here the past year or so, but have been lurking for a bit when I get the spare time...long enough to know how devastating this fall has been for this forum.

I just wanted to share some good news - I completed my 2nd Marathon (26.2 miles) this past Sunday. I'm SO glad it's over, but I'm still not able to walk normally because I'm so sore

I hit the wall around mile 20...I was really hurting, and honestly I kept thinking of everyone here - CFers, friends, families, those we've lost, etc. Even though I don't post very often I wanted you all to know that you are truly an inspiration to me.

I had my TEAM BOOMER shirt that said "Fighting Cystic Fibrosis" on the back, and a guy that was also running told me his son has CF. I guess in a crowd of 20,000 people someone else is bound to have been effected by it somehow.

Only downer is I'm still fighting a sinus infection/cough that I have been for the past month, but marathon is done, so I can't complain too much!

Wow! That's fantastic. I hope your body goes back to feeling normal soon. You should be so proud of yourself. How many people can say they've completed not one, but 2 marathons?

I participated in a stair climb for CF last month. I was part of a relay team, and we finished quicker that I thought we would. Now, my next goal is to RUN, not walk, the 5K Great Strides walk in April. I've always been SO unathletic that it's scary...but I'm inspired by everyone here, too. I had a thought the other day: "Hmmm, I wonder if I'd ever be able to run a half marathon." The thought was quicklu followed by "Where the heck did that thought come from?" LOL

Great work - we're proud of you!

Way to go!!!! That is a HUGE accomplishment without CF-- but with it even more so! Did you do Dallas? (I assumed you might have with the Baylor reference). I ran track and cross country for OU and a handful of my former teammates did Dallas this weekend - thought you might have done the same.

I did my first marathon a few years ago in KS- it was a pretty boring one- and then I trained for Dallas a couple years ago but ended up not going because of a killer finals week Now my runs usually include a dog and a stroller so I am not sure when I will be up for another one

Take some ice baths and enjoy the post-marathon high!!!
