We went today and had 2nd sweat test done-we are still waiting on genetic Ambry results-We had it done because daughter is not better and so far cultures from bronch/scope Tues. have not grown anything-1st sweat test was a low 7- When we went for 2nd sweat test today, I noticed they attached 2 round electrodes (red and black) to her right arm for 5 minutes and then we carried out the rest of the test w/the circular disc on her arm for 30 minutes. They said they definitely got enough-waiting for results this afternoon-Here's the QUESTION-the 1st sweat test, my husband and I only remember the lab tech. attaching 1 round electrode to her arm for 5 minutes! That test we got a 7.The tech today said that was obviously not the correct procedure- I am assuming that would affect the results now that I understand how the test works by creating a small current between the 2 electrodes to stimulate the sweat glands. Is this right? Please let me know your thoughts- The person I described that did the 1st sweat test , they told me today was just a fill-in and probably didn't know what he was doing!!??

I would be royally pissed if the first test was done incorrectly. If you didnt keep pushing your child could be going around with undiagnosed CF. Is this an accredited CF Center? I apologize if this has be covered before, but this is an example of why its important.

From what I understand the newer tests have only one electrode that they attach.

My son had 3 tests. The first two only one electrode was placed on each arm, it was actually a little box that looked like a manual wrist BP cuff.

The third test had two electrodes placed on each arm. The tech said it was the older method because it creates more sensitivity in patients (burns a little). Is it possible they just tried a different method for the second test? Hopefully they didn't screw up and put your little one through all of that for nothing.

Hang in there.

I don't have any answers for you... only more questions :) When will you get the results of the 2nd sweat test? When will you get the Ambry results and was the Ambry test a full (1500+) test?
