I think I have asked this before but I am stumped again. DD1 wil not let me do her CPT... she squirms and gets out of my grasp, she puts her hands on top of mine and moves them off her body. I tried to tell that she needs to do it, I tried to get DH to do it (she does better with him but he isnt always home and even he struggles).

We have tried special tv shows, we have tried bribbery (I know, not proud), we have tried singing, we have tried everything.

is this normal for this age? Any suggestions on what I can do to get her to sit still? I have even tried doing her sides and then taking a break then getting her to come back for the rest and stuff but THAT doesnt even work. I am at my wits end because i know she needs to have this done but I am tired of fighting with her and thinking about DD2 reaching this age makes me just want to cry because I know she will fight me as well especially if she sees her older sister resisting.

I feel like such a bad parent... <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

Thanks in advance.

Do you use the manual CPT or the Vest? I know we had a really hard time before our now 3 year old got the vest. We just had to literally hold him down. There were times when I would have to put his back up against the front of me and then make him sit so I could sit indian style to help hold him. If you have the vest then I would just hook her up and then either try to play with her or hold her while she is doing it.

I would try to maybe see about having *special treatment* toys. I guess you just have to try and get as much of it done as you can before you are totally exhausted from trying to hold her. I would maybe even try and talk to her. I have done this with our 3 year old and just tell them that we have to do this every day and there are no exceptions. Just keep trying.

Does she do okay if she's sleeping or sleepy? The worst times for us were the CPTs right after preschool/work because he didn't want to sit still and watch tv -- even if it WAS spongebob or any DVD he wanted, he wanted to go play with his toys. He'd put his hands up, claim I was hurting him. Mornings were fine because he slept thru it, evenings as well because he was sleepy and would usually fall asleep..

We dont have a vest... we should get one but I dont have the money laying around to do so and disability or the foundation up here wont pay for it because there is no solid research that it is actually better than manual CPT.

I havent really tried doing it when she is sleeping but that is a good idea but I am sure she will get mad at me and make me stop but it's worth a try.

Thanks! Please post more ideas if you think of any...
