Yes we also struggled big time with Craig's cpt, he is also 3 1/2, for the past year we have not done actual physical cpt, I know it sounds bad. What we do now is a restrictive belt that goes around his chest and restricts his lungs. What this means is that as he breathes in his lungs dont expand as the would normally and so the breath goes deeper into the lung and so getting behind any mucus, well thats the theory anyway. When you breath normally you only use a certain percentage of the lung capacity, so this belt and treatment increases the capacity of the breath. He keeps it on for 1 hour twice a day, he plays with it while on, outside on the trampoline if we can.
That is the other thing we encourage lots of physical play, trampoline, soccer, running.

Next clinic (next week) he will be getting a pep mask to try, and so that will be him learning breathing exercises.

Dont get me wrong, it took me a while to not think that we should still be doing cpt, and that we were doing wrong

What a neat idea. I wonder if we have them here in Canada.

I have tried the toys like a post mentioned but she loses interest.

But I am happy to say that She let me do her CPT on her last night (just not her back but this is a big step for us). She laid on my while we watched cartoons... hopefully her definant stage is over and she is understanding that her CPT are going to help her. Fingers crossed!

Oy now I get to look forward to Kiana reaching this age... yikes!
