Hi Nancy. My son also had gas pains and got really fussy with the applesauce by a couple weeks old. I think it was too much for his little system. So we switched to other foods- rice with formula, peaches and he loved his Creon with bananas! They seemed to agree with him much more. As he got older, he refused applesauce. Half the time he was taking his Creon in whipped cream! Whatever worked....Best of luck, He started swallowing pills at one year old!

Hi nancy,

Both Aidan and Jordan took their enzymes with applesauce ever since they were diagnonsed 2 weeks and 3 weeks respectively. They had no trouble with it. aidan has justing swallowing the Creon 5 whole in apple sauce, he is now 17 months. We were told we could also use Heinz baby fruit gels, but they made my boys bums runny - so that was a no no. Aidan now is very fussy about his applesauce and will only have two brands Raffertys Graden (apple, pear and cinamon) and Heinz pured apple. i hate to think about how much i have spent on apple sauce over the yers with the two of them!

Good luck with Maggie, give her a couple of days to settle into the apple before you switch, she might be fussy becasue its a new sensation.

DS hated applesauce, but did like baby bananas. He too was extremely fussy around bottle time and he was a terrible burper. He was also put on zantac 'cuz they thought he might have silent reflux. I do know when we increased his enzymes, there was an adjustment period.

A couple times he had what was called a meconium equivilant -- he was pooping, albeit, very loose stuff -- turned out he was backed up, a LOT of stuff in his colon, so we had to give him milk of magnesia a few times to get him cleaned out. Drove me nuts that there wasn't just an easy solution, easy formula to follow instead of having to figure it out based on output.
