3 year-old takes responsibility for enzymes

This is kinda funny, but really more sad, at least to me.

We went out to a highschool football game last night and on the way home drove through Starbucks (mocha frappucino addiction for Mom). The girls each got a cinnamon swirl cookie.

Katy: "Mom, I need an enzyme"

Me: "It's okay sweetie, we'll get it for you when we get home" (i.e. I'm sorry honey I simply can't be bothered with getting it for you right now)

Katy: "Here Mom, I want to save my cookie for later" (tries to hand it to me)

Kyra: "Mom, I think she's afraid to eat it without her enzyme"

Dad: "Pull over and I'll get it for her"

So I pull over and we get her dosed (I had an enzyme kit in the car - applesauce, spoons, enzymes; as I said I was just being lazy).

And then she happily takes her cookie and eats it.

So I guess you can say that BOTH my daughters have been fully indoctrinated to the importance of enzymes for Katy. Kyra is SUCH a good big sister.

p.s. - okay all you moms - who drives when you are both in the car? You or your husband? Can you say 'control freak'? LOL!

Ha ha, I ALWAYS drive!!!

Your description made me laugh. When we sold our last car, we cleaned it our and found hundreds of enzyme beads and tons of enzyme shells from when the kids were little.

How many things have you tried to put the enzyme beads on so they would stay on the spoon when you didn't have applesause in the car? When Josh was little we had to give him his enzymes with Starbucks coffee (just a teaspoon full) because we had nothing with us in the car. Whatever works!

OK, I am probably the only one who will get teary at you post...but as a mom of two girls, three years apart, the younger one having CF, I was really touched. Both by Katy's ability to take such good care of her self and her sister's awareness of what Katy needed! GOOD JOB, MOM!

I would love to do the driving. But I'm married to the control freak.

I've actually been told by DS that I need to take an enzyme when I eat something <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Question--do you give an enzyme with every snack like just a cookie? Kaylees Dr. is worried she takes to many. Doesnt want her to have more than 9-10 at most a day. He' worried she'll have stomach problems--pancreas, liver, kidneys. I wonder about right dosage. Cute story by the way. Kaylee takes her enzymes with a drink, sometimes two at a time!
I'M in control--left the control freak!
