Question--do you give an enzyme with every snack like just a cookie? Kaylees Dr. is worried she takes to many. Doesnt want her to have more than 9-10 at most a day. He' worried she'll have stomach problems--pancreas, liver, kidneys. I wonder about right dosage. Cute story by the way. Kaylee takes her enzymes with a drink, sometimes two at a time!
I'M in control--left the control freak!

We never received a max per day warning from our doc but I am aware of the problems with taking too many. Katy already had a slightly high liver enzyme count (AST I think) so she is on Ursodiol.

I freaked out at first that we would give too much enzyme but I've become more where I err on the side of go ahead and give it to her and watch for signs that there is a problem. But I do consider lots of things including what she is eating and how long it has been since she had one.

I had kind of come to the same conclusions on my own as Warwick expresses in his letter IX courtesy of Amy's blog. It was really nice to read what he had to say on it, if you haven't already.

DS isn't much of a sweets eater, but he loves chips and nuts. If it's one chip, a cracker, I don't bother and if I give him a cookie, most of the time, I don't give him an enzyme 'cuz he maybe licks the frosting off or has a nibble. With other snacks, I see how much he starts to eat -- or if he asks for a drink with his snack, I usually hand him an enzyme.

When I pick him up at preschool, I usually have juice and fruit snacks in the car, so I don't bother with enzymes. I usually stock my car with snacks not requiring enzymes. Or if he eats a small container of chips, I give him an enzyme with a drink when I walk in the door. It's only a short 5 - 10 minute drive.
