Hello.
I am 34 and was diagnosed 2 months ago. My genotype is Df508 and M470V. My CF is highly sinus and pancreatic related with lesser pulmonary issues. My brother was diagnosed at 4 months old for failure to thrive and the three other siblings were given a sweat test. The year was 1980. My sweat test at that time was "grey"-- My 2 sisters were normal and my brother was positive.

I had pancreatic issues my entire life and more severe sinus issues for the last 6 years. I have been using proventil and albuteral for 10 years when finally someone decided to send me for another sweat chloride test that was positive and do a gene mutation test.

I am on Ultrase MT 20's-- approximately 4 with meals and 2-3 with snacks.
3x nebulizer daily
Antibiotics for pseudonomas and staph.
Mucinex for sinus.

I feel grateful to be diagnosed because for my entire life I knew I was ill.
I am an athlete and was an elite athlete and have been told that the running and triathlon's saved my lungs and life.

Wow -- thanks for sharing your story. There are many people, my daughter included, who have had borderline sweat test and doctors might think they are in the clear. Your story is a good example of that dangerous way of thinking. I'm so glad that you got your diagnosis and can now get the medical help you need. I'm also glad that being an athlete has kept your lungs healthy.

This board is a little slow and is mainly frequented by moms of newborns, but you should definitely go introduce yourself on the adult board.

Thanks for the inspiration this morning and I hope you continue to do well!!!

That's crazy...all your life with these problems and you had CF all along! I am glad you have answers and are now finally getting the correct treatment. It just goes to show you that you can't always rely on those sweat tests. I am also a good example, mine were in the 50's I believe. I didn't get diagnosed until your age as well because I am not classic CF either.
Keep running those triathalons! Kudos to you <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
