Well today was my 36 week appt and of course time for the group b test. I told the doctor that since monday I can tell things have changed. I am having alot of pressure and some mild cramping pain. So she asked me if after the test I wanted her to check me to see where if anywhere I was at. I was like well heck yea To my surprise and I think hers as well I am 2 cm dialated and 50% effaced. Oh wowzers!! She said she was going to talk to me about inducing at 39 weeks but she doesnt think that I will make it that long. So of course we dont know how long I have been at 2 cm since this was my first time being checked, and I know I could stay at 2 cm for weeks but I just have a feeling that I dont think that will happen. Today I have had more of this cramping pain so I think he is doing some preparing inside my belly

Wow, this is exciting that it's getting so close. Yeah, you could sit at 2cm all the way until the end, so it really doesn't mean too much. But it's exciting that it is coming closer and and that your body is preparing for labor. Good luck in the final weeks!

You're getting so close! Since you mentioned it, why does your doc want to induce you at 39 weeks? Are you having problems or is it "just because"? I would caution you to make sure you do your homework if induction is the plan. Induction can be rough and has a lower success rate in 1st time moms. I was induced w/ my 1st at 39 weeks, 4 days and we made it w/o any complications but I would never choose that route again for myself especially after I realized that based on statistics, I was a c/s waiting to happen.

Oh and check out spinningbabies.com for ways to get optimal fetal positioning in labor. You need to start now. If he is facing the wrong way, you can get back labor which is no fun at all.

I want to second Caroline's post on induction. I was induced with my son, although it's not the choice I really should have made. I was induced due to a pregnancy rash that made me miserable, although I definitely think I could have held on and dealt with it for another week or two. There were other reasons too why I was induced (which I'm almost too ashamed to mention), but it was sort of for convenience reasons and the fact that we had no family to help us out until we had it somewhat planned. And we needed family out here to help us with our first son, who was only 18 months at the time. I would definitely never choose induction though.

But I don't remember what your reasons were for getting induced. Was it for the blood disorder? I would definitely opt for natural if you can...but of course, it's always you and your doctor's choice.

Good luck!
